About Pride & Joy

We are commissioning quilt designs from local artists, then organizing a series of free crafting events across Northern and Central Vermont where community members will be invited to attend and contribute to the production of the quilts.
The event series will begin May 2026 and end with a quilt exhibition and fundraiser for Outright Vermont the weekend of September 11th.

Pride & Joy — Sewn Together
In recent years, we have watched Queer and Trans communities being targeted by anti-Queer rhetoric and legislation. It has been a betrayal and a backward slide, even as grassroots support for these groups continues to grow.
In this time of crisis, both Queer folks and allies alike need to be able to connect with one another, and have access to platforms where their voices can be heard. Pride & Joy aims to address this need the best way we know how- through arts and crafts!
Art is a powerful tool, and the impact of collaborative community art cannot be understated. Collaborative art not only allows people to release their own creative energy; it generates opportunities for people to connect with one another over a shared goal, while contributing to something larger than themselves. This relationship between art and artists is especially poignant in the form of quilts, as comfort objects with a rich history of collaboration.
On its surface, Pride & Joy aims to make art and drum up support for a cause, but our true goal is to build a community that will continue to connect beyond the scope of the project.
